Important Information Concerning the Installation of Your Floor Covering
Thank you for selecting your new floor covering from Cenni
& Ambrose Tile & Carpet, Inc. Your satisfaction with our products, service
and installation is our number one priority.
To assist you in preparing for installation of your new
flooring, we have put together important information concerning the installation
of your floor covering. If you have any questions or concerns, please
call us at (847) 872-5300 and we will gladly help.
There are several things you can do to make your installation
go more smoothly.
Furniture and Appliances
Please remove all furniture and other material from areas to be covered.
All appliances must be disconnected and removed unless prior arrangements
have been made. Installers will not disconnect or reconnect gas ranges,
ice makers, dishwashers, radiators or laundry tubs, washers and dryers.
You will be charged for installers to move furniture and appliances
unless prior arrangements are made. We do not move electronics, large
screen TVs or breakables.
Moldings and
Baseboards
Quarter round or shoe base molding must be
removed in areas which receive hard surface flooring. Your installer
will carefully remove and replace your quarter rounds or shoe
base but is not responsible for damage or breakage which may
occur due to dry or brittle wood. We do not remove baseboard
moldings. Baseboards and paint may need retouching and doors
may need trimming after installation is complete. If this is
necessary, it is the customer's responsibility. If doors or thresholds
need to be cut because of a subfloor, this is also the customer's responsibility.
Baseboard and quarter round which has been recently painted, will need
touching up. Return to top
Subfloor Preparation
When
new carpet or vinyl flooring is to be installed over your existing
subfloor, it may be necessary to prepare the floor prior to installation.
Because certain conditions cannot be known until the old floor
covering is removed, an additional charge may be necessary. Of course,
any additional charges will be explained by Cenni & Ambrose Tile & Carpet,
Inc. staff and discussed beforehand.
All subfloors must be free of stains, paint, grease, etc.
These will cause future discoloration in the vinyl floors.
We cannot be responsible for this.
In most cases, a new underlayment of wood is necessary
where vinyl is installed. We recommend that new underlayment,
if necessary, be provided and installed by Cenni & Ambrose Tile & Carpet, Inc., which
will provide you with a complete warranty. We cannot warranty or be responsible
for underlayment provided by and/or installed by you or a third party.
Cenni & Ambrose Tile & Carpet, Inc. is not responsible
for any squeaks.
Dust
Dust will be created during the installation of your new floor
covering due to cutting, sanding, etc. The customer is responsible for
covering all items that should not be exposed to dust. Return to top
Heat
To install new flooring, particularly in new construction, it
is necessary to have the area heated. The room and floor temperature should
be at least 68 degrees for at least 48 hours prior to installation, during
installation and following installation. This is necessary for the adhesives
to properly set after the installation, and for carpet or vinyl to be pliable
enough to install.
Take-Up of Any Flooring Material
We can arrange for the take-up of old carpeting. Of course,
there is a charge for this service. There would also be an additional
charge for disposal of material. If you prefer to do it yourself,
take-up should be done at least one day prior to installation to allow
for clean up and floor preparation. All carpet, pads and staples must
be removed. If Cenni & Ambrose Tile & Carpet, Inc. doe the
take-up, we will dispose of old carpet and scraps. Return to top
Please be at home on the day of installation. Because if is difficult
to estimate the time of each job, we many not be able to give you a specific
time the installer will arrive. You should be present when your floor coverings
are installed to insure correct material, areas of installation and payment,
unless prior arrangements have been made. If your installation occurs
on a snowy day, please have your walks and driveway cleared.
There is a charge for the removal and replacement of toilets
in bathrooms which receive flooring. If you have an unusual toilet or
it has been in place for many years, it is advisable to contact a plumber
prior to installation day. If there is any evidence of water damage,
you need to contact your plumber. Cenni & Ambrose Tile & Carpet, Inc.
is not responsible for hidden damage or defective parts which may become
evident upon removal of an existing toilet. Therefore, additional costs
may be incurred. Please ask your salesperson if you have any questions.
